Music therapy in Louisiana is currently an unlicensed profession. Because of this, there is no oversight on who can provide music therapy services in the state of Louisiana. In order to ensure that our clients are receiving safe and effective services, and that they are being treated by a board-certified music therapist, licensure is incredibly important. Licensure will also help music therapy become a covered/reimbursable service by medicaid/medicare, allowing more access to music therapy services.
